Controlling the overall color
The first step is to adjust the overall color of the image. Adobe Photoshop CS4 includes two color options: Highlights and Shadows (see Figure 5-2) and Color.
FIGURE 5-2: These controls let you adjust the overall lightness and darkness of an image.
Here are the steps to access these tools:
1. **Click the Image menu and then choose Adjustments.**
The Adjustments palette appears, as shown on the right in Figure 5-2. You see the Overview panel at the top of the palette, too.
2. **Use the sliders to adjust the Highlights and Shadows sliders, as shown in the figure.**
_If your photo is very dark,_ adjust the Shadows slider to the right to increase the effect.
3. **Use the Color control to adjust the overall color of the photo.**
For now, click the Color button to get started. Then choose a color by clicking its name in the Color box, or select the color box itself to load a preset, which is your best bet for color-correcting your photo. You can also choose Color from the Effects menu.
If you adjust these settings, Photoshop won't alter the color of your layers.
4. **Save the image when you are done.**
The adjustment is applied to the image.

Topic: Processing a Wide Range of Stores (Read 2373 times)
The system does it's best to 'auto'-detect ALL of the available XML stores, however, if you have a custom XML store, or if you have multiple XML stores configured, you may need to adjust the use of each of those as they are controlled via the setup data.
There's no way to configure in the system how it should behave in a large set of slightly or very different situations (such as a mix of different stores, or with or without a defined domain), but there are a few things that might help you to make this approach more robust and programmable:
The system already does have a fairly flexible data access layer, and it's completely programmable. If you have an XML store specified that doesn't seem to work, you can look at the XMLStoreInterfaces in the MSCAT file (in the Interfaces directory). If a class in there doesn't seem to be getting invoked then you might want to fire up your favorite text editor and poke around.
For example, for populating attribute values you might want to do something like this:
Alternatively you might be interested in the overloads in the shell for xml operations, in particular for the HtmlFilter. The ones for the text handler are fairly normal, but the ones for the HtmlFilter can be quite flexible. to doing to keep it from coming back or may have improved it enough that it's easier to fix, like a cycled wound up spring.
He said, "Pseudomorphs are pretty, until they break off like that. It might be brittle enough that an earthquake is the last straw. It was the same thing with the geysers. They'd be active, then they'd just stop. They'll pop up again in places where it's been a while, but it's not like anything else is going to change around them."
Huh. I've noticed this before. I don't know if I'd call it a "meteor," but a planet getting so hot that it starts to boil. I suppose it's just like a "black hole" on Earth-sized planets though. I'm not sure if the latter reference is intended.
"It's not like a planet's going to suddenly develop a Mag-Lev in the middle of North Dakota or anything."
I've heard of that happening in a cartoon called "Invader Zim". This one little island on a world just randomly gets electrified/magnetized, and the only people there are the invaders. The world has them trapped. It was cool.
